Hua Hin

Thailand page

From Chumphon, first bus ride of any length, now I'm the only farang, can't be a popular way to travel. Feels and looks good to me, good highways and all new stuff to see. Arriving in Hua Hin, looks great, wide streets, not too much traffic and smiles again, I am in the right country but not sure where the bus has dropped me, no problem there's a tuk tuk right there and I know where I want to go .

Sukwilai Guest House Soi Binthabaht a good size A/C room with hot water shower for 500baht dee mak very good, two nights maybe more as I'm ahead of schedule, only did one night in Chumphon instead of two. Time to wander around before dark down all the Soi's to the wharf, lots of come and have a drink, not many farang's around.

On the way back outside the Colerado Bar I was grabbed, read somewhere that "beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder" I don't drink so wheather that makes me a judge or not I can't say but like art I may not understand it but I know what I like.

Ben was great company and real fun to be around we ate together every day, you choose what you like and we share and did the disco thing one night.

Promised Ben I would put her photo on the net so here it is.

If you go to the Colerado bar tell her you saw her on this site.

Pity I had to leave but got a plane to catch and a date with winter back home.

Back to BKK

Another cheap comfortable bus ride with bottles of water passed out. Only problem is the BKK bus depot is a long way from the center of things and it cost me more for the taxi fare than the bus. There is probably a cheaper way to do this but there were only a couple of taxis around so I had to take what I could get.

I suspect it would be cheaper to take the train from HH to BKK as the fare is about the same and the train station is only a 100baht taxi ride from the action.

Nana Hotel for the last night, under 1000baht for a good room and no charge for guests. A few more shirts to take home then a look in some bars, got to prevent dehydration. Plenty of offers of company for the night in multiples of up to three but wanted to look around the plaza as I had read so much about it.

Not many patrons in the bars so the girls are very keen including the lady boys, if you like your girl with extra attachments this is a good place to look, not for me.

With due attention to the already mentioned "Bar girl evaluation form" another good night... a bit too good as we didn't wake till 1pm. Holy hell have to be at the airport at three, a quick shave, shower, shit and shampoo (not in that order) check out and say goodby then into a taxi to the airport. After paying the taxi and the departure tax there is only 20baht left in the pocket, so much for breakfast will eat on the plane.

Just as well I didn't take up the offer of company to the airport she would have been very disappointed in my budgeting.

Note

Remember the 500baht departure tax

Will I be back?

No doubt whatsoever, it will take till next year for the next visit and after that Thailand may, if it can be arranged, gain another expat Kiwi.

Thoughts

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving

safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid

in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly

proclaiming... "F*#@, what a trip!"

What can I do to make the next year of my life the best year of my life?
