Yellowtail(kingfish)

Are very similar to the yellowtail caught in Japan but grow much bigger.
We catch them up to 50kg in weight, they are a very strong and exciting
fish to catch. The season is from November to May with the best time from
December to April.

Tuna

Yellowfin, albacore and skipjack are present in our waters from December
to April, seasons can vary from year to year with some years being very
good and others with few fish.

Snapper

Are present all year but move out to deeper water in the winter, best time
is from November to June.

Trevally

Move into our waters about the same time as yellowtail and are often caught
in the same places, best time is from December to April.

Grouper(hapuku) and tarakihi

Are the main species we catch for food, they are bottom living fish and
can be caught all year round.

Kahawai
Sometimes called Australian salmon or sea trout can be caught all year
round they are quite an exciting fish to catch as the jump when hooked,
best time is from October to May.

Sharks

Mako and blue sharks, some as big as 300kg can be caught most of the year,
best time is from November to May.

Marlin

Striped marlin are present from January to March, there are not many
caught each year as few people fish for them.
